Restaurant Senior Discounts
Last updated 2026-07-15 · Offers change — when in doubt, call your local store and ask.
A little-known secret: lots of restaurants quietly knock money off your bill or offer a smaller-priced menu once you hit a certain age — you just have to ask. Rules and ages change by chain and even by individual location, so treat this as a starting list and always confirm with your server or the counter before you order.

|---|---|---|---|
| Denny's | 15% off dine-in and pickup orders (AARP members); separate 55+ discounted menu at many locations | 55 | AARP members get 15% off the check (excludes alcohol, the Everyday Value Slam, Original Grand Slam, merchandise, and gift cards) — show your AARP card. Separately, many (not all) Denny's locations run their own 55+ menu with items like the Senior Fit Fare Omelet; ID usually not checked but ask your server, since Denny's is mostly franchised and offerings vary by location. AARP.org (official) + Denny's roundup |
| IHOP | Discounted 55+ menu (breakfast/lunch/dinner items roughly $8.99–$11.99) | 55 | No company-wide percentage-off senior discount, but most locations carry a 55+ menu with lower-priced portions. Some individual franchise locations add their own extra discount (e.g., 10–15% on certain days) — that varies by store, so call ahead. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |
| Golden Corral | Reduced senior buffet price (roughly $1–$2 off adult price) plus a Senior Early Bird Special (~$9.99) weekdays 11am–3pm at many locations | 60 | Since Golden Corral locations are independently operated, exact pricing and hours vary by restaurant. Just ask the cashier for the senior rate before you pay; bring ID in case they ask. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |

| Bonefish Grill | 10% off dine-in or curbside carryout ordered by phone (AARP members) | 50 | Official AARP member restaurant benefit, same redemption process as other Bloomin' Brands restaurants (Outback, Carrabba's): show your AARP card or give your member number for phone-in curbside orders. AARP.org (official) |

| McDonald's | Discounted small "Senior" coffee (often 50– 80 cents); some franchises add 10% off meals | 55 | McDonald's actually lists a "Coffee (Senior)" item on its official site, but there's no company-wide policy — each franchise owner decides whether to honor it and at what price, and the qualifying age can be 55 or 60 depending on the store. Just ask if they have a senior coffee price. McDonalds.com (official product listing) + The Senior List |
| Chick-fil-A | Free small drink or up to 10% off, for guests 55+ (varies by location) | 55 | Not an advertised, chain-wide program — individual Chick-fil-A locations decide whether to offer a free small drink or a percentage off, and staff won't apply it automatically. Just ask. Money Digest (2025/2026 roundup) |
| Applebee's | 10–15% off with the Golden Apple Card, for guests 60+ (participating locations) | 60 | Applebee's is almost entirely franchised, so participation is up to the local owner. Ask about the Golden Apple Card senior discount and bring ID; some locations also honor AARP membership for a similar discount. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |
| Arby's | 10% off, or a free drink, for guests 55+ (varies by location) | 55 | No company-wide policy; Arby's is a franchise system, so call your local restaurant to confirm before you go. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |
| Burger King | 10% off, or a discounted/free small drink or coffee, for guests 55–60+ (varies by location) | 55 | Not a corporate-wide guarantee since locations are mostly franchised; discounted senior coffee has been reported around 50 cents to $1 where offered. Ask your local BK. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |
| Wendy's | Free drink or 10% off, for guests 55+ (varies by location, not advertised) | 55 | Wendy's doesn't post this discount publicly, so it's easy to miss — ask the cashier and bring ID showing your date of birth. Consumer Gravity (2026) |
| Subway | 10% off, for guests 60+ (participating franchise locations) | 60 | Depends entirely on the individual franchise owner. Ask about the senior discount before you pay. TechFor60s (2026) |
| Bob Evans | 10% off meals and non-alcoholic beverages for guests 60+; separate 55+ discounted senior menu | 55 | Some locations also run a weekly Senior Day promotion. Discounts and menu pricing vary by location — call ahead to confirm. Restaurant roundup (2026) |
| Perkins Restaurant & Bakery | "55 Plus" discounted menu, roughly 10–20% below regular pricing | 55 | Ask for the 55 Plus Menu at a participating Perkins; some locations may ask for ID. Availability and exact savings vary by location. Restaurant roundup (2026) |
| Waffle House | 10% off, or a senior menu with lower prices, for guests 60+ (varies by location) | 60 | Waffle House has no written company-wide senior discount policy — it's left up to individual store management, so call ahead and ask. The Senior List (2026 roundup) |

Most senior discounts are not automatic — you have to ask. A polite
"Do you offer a senior discount?" at checkout is the highest-paying sentence in retail.
Tips
- Always ask — many senior discounts (especially at fast-food chains) aren't posted on menus or signage, so the cashier won't offer it unless you speak up.
- Bring a photo ID. Even where a discount doesn't officially require age verification, staff may ask, especially at chains with a specific minimum age like 60 or 62.
- If you're an AARP member, ask specifically about the AARP discount — it's often a better and more consistently honored deal than a store's informal "senior discount," since it's a documented benefit run through AARP.org.
- Because most of these chains are franchised, the discount that works at one location may not exist at the one across town. A quick phone call before you go can save a wasted trip.
- Discounted "senior menus" (smaller portions, lower prices) are usually a better and more reliable deal than asking for a percentage off, since they don't depend on a manager's discretion.
